The Full Story

The residency is located in a historic building in the picturesque town of Valdemarpils in Western Latvia. The house was built circa1850 and retains many of its original features, such as the mantel chimney.

 

Valdemārpils is steeped in history, dating back to the 13th century. At TIL artists and other creatives can draw inspiration from the town's rich cultural heritage, including its preserved wooden architecture, historic sites, and the enduring spirit of Latvian traditions.

TIL is the perfect place for those seeking inspiration, fruitful collaboration, and mindful tranquility. Situated in the charming Latvian landscapes, surrounded by century-old trees, serene lakes and lush fields, our residency offers a distinctive experience that combines artistic exploration with the rich cultural heritage of the region. Valdemarpilstown centre is within walking distance;residents can also use bikes provided by TIL to explore the surroundings. The Baltic Sea coast with its wild beaches and fisherman villages is only 20 minutes drive away.

Residency consists of two buildings surrounded by a garden of flowers, appleand pear trees, and berry bushes.

 

The first building’s ground floor features a communal hall, a large kitchen, a library and three spaces for work and/or public events if needed. Additionally, there’s also a familyapartment on the first floor.

 

The other building has eight separate bedrooms, four bathrooms, three spaces for work, as well as a Latvian sauna and nearby lake.
